Dr. Williams was born and raised in Kannapolis, North Carolina. She earned a double bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, in Psychology and Sociology. She then graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master’s degree in School and Mental Health Counseling. After completing her master’s degree, she returned to UNC Chapel Hill to earn her doctorate in School Psychology. Throughout her psychology education, Dr. Williams trained at UNC Psychiatry Outpatient Clinic, Central Regional Hospital, and the Carolina Institute for Developmental Disabilities (CIDD). Dr. Williams completed an APA-Accredited internship in Child and Family Therapy at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine/ Kennedy Krieger Institute.

Dr. Williams also has experience instructing undergraduate and graduate students in psychology and developmental disabilities. She remains engaged in research regarding the racial identity development of youth. Dr. Williams also collaborates with a local organization and Duke University to teach children healthy racial identity development and anti-racism practices. Dr. Williams participates in professional organizations including the American Psychological Association and the American Educational Research Association to stay abreast of recent developments and best practices in the field of psychology.

In her spare time, Dr. Williams considers herself a food connoisseur and she enjoys international traveling. Dr. Williams also values spending time and making memories with family and friends. She loves listening to music, cuddling with her two dogs, and exploring new restaurants with her life partner.
