Natasha Sylvester, Psy.D., has a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in child and family psychology. She has been trained in a range of modalities including Exposure and Response Prevention, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Humanistic Therapy, and Child-Centered Play Therapy. Dr. Sylvester has experience utilizing a culturally competent and sensitive framework with diverse populations. In addition, she provides faith based counseling for those who use their faith as a source of support. Dr. Sylvester assists others in discovering purpose and meaning, while focusing on the unique strengths and ways one can reach one’s highest potential.

Dr. Sylvester received her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Florida Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Florida. Dr. Sylvester graduated with a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Troy University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Florida.

Throughout Dr. Sylvester’s doctoral training she made it her goal to gain experience in multiple areas to become skilled in treating a diagnostically diverse client population with various mental illnesses and needs. Throughout her psychology education, Dr. Sylvester gained experience working with adults, adolescents, and children in various settings such as community mental health, inpatient psychiatric hospital, and college counseling. Additionally, she provided co-therapy alongside a licensed clinical psychologist in an outpatient private practice setting that specialized in pre-marital, marital, divorce, and sex therapy. She worked at a non-profit organization providing outpatient counseling to children, adolescents, adults, and families in need of assistance while experiencing crises and major life transitions. Dr. Sylvester worked as a sexual abuse treatment counselor, providing therapy to children and adolescents affected by sexual abuse. She is trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and provides Trauma Informed Care.

Dr. Sylvester completed an APA-Accredited internship at Family Service and Guidance Center, a community mental health center in Topeka, Kansas. Dr. Sylvester provided care to individuals and families from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with a wide range of diagnostic, academic, and developmental factors. In addition, Dr. Sylvester was on the anxiety treatment team where she received training in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) to treat individuals with various forms of anxiety. Dr. Sylvester gained extensive training and experience in Child-Centered Play Therapy approaches and attended trainings in Theraplay and Sandtray Therapy.

Dr. Sylvester enjoys spending her free time with her husband, family, and friends. She likes cooking, painting, going to the beach, exploring new places, attending local music and art events, and outdoor activities with her two dogs.
