Dr. Ross was trained in play therapy for children at the Center for Humanistic Psychology (now The Michigan School of Professional Psychology) under the direction of Dr. Clark Moustakas, a leading expert on play therapy, clinical psychology, and humanistic psychology. In addition to his child therapy services as a clinical psychologist, Dr. Ross has worked at community mental health agencies throughout the Detroit area, providing psychological services to adults with acute and chronic mental health concerns. Dr. Ross has spent many years as a school psychologist for the Wake County Public School System. He has extensive experience working with children and families, developing intervention services for schools and preschools. Additionally, Dr. Ross is a member of the National Association of school psychologists.

Dr. Ross utilizes multiple methods to establish a comprehensive understanding of children and families—interviews with parents, meetings with teachers, discussions with related services professionals, community and school observations, formal psychoeducational assessments, etc. He is trained in both qualitative and quantitative research methods and utilizes research for delivering his experienced psychological services. Dr. Ross knows how critical it is for schools to understand each child's unique needs. When school accommodations and services are established, children can have a more effective and comfortable learning environment—one that is conducive to their specific strengths and needs. And when these services are combined with properly educating parents about their child's issues, kids are better equipped for success in school and life.
