CHRISTINA C. RUSH, Ph.D.

Dr. Rush specializes in testing and treating children, adolescents, and college students.  She received her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Duke University. Dr. Rush’s therapy expertise with children, adolescents, and college students focuses on issues related to adjustment, identity, and relationship issues as well as specific struggles and trauma related to anxiety, depression, eating disorders, emotional abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse.  Her counseling experience extends to working with parents and families, including coping with divorce and separation, sleeping disturbances, childhood obesity, and effective discipline strategies.  She is also experienced in treating adult clients facing issues related to domestic violence, separation, divorce, interpersonal struggles, anxiety, disordered eating, depression, and personal and professional goal setting.   With respect to assessments, Dr. Rush has experience in conducting psychoeducational evaluations across the academic spectrum, to include evaluating for learning disabilities, ADHD, and giftedness.

Dr. Rush’s research and clinical work have been on the co-occurrence of eating disorders and substance use among college students.  She has traveled to college counselor centers across the country to conduct research and do presentations on this topic.  She also has a clinical interest in working with college students presenting with a broad range of concerns.  Mental health stressors can arise as students are forming their identity, having serious romantic relationships, distancing themselves from their families, and determining their desired career path.  Dr. Rush helps college students, adolescents, and children facing mental health concerns forge their identity, engage in healthy relationships, and experience academic success.
